What To Expect

Welcome to Ridgewood Surgery Center. We are honored to be a part of your care and are committed to making your experience as comfortable, smooth, and stress-free as possible. Our team is here to support you every step of the way.

  • Please follow all instructions provided by your surgeon’s office regarding eating, drinking, medications, and arrival time.
  • We kindly ask that you complete your pre-assessment paperwork using the secure link provided to you prior to surgery. If you prefer, you may also call our facility, and a nurse will gladly review the information with you over the phone.

Arrival Time

Please arrive promptly at your scheduled arrival time so our team has adequate time to prepare you for your procedure and answer any questions you may have. We encourage you to share any concerns or special needs with our staff so we can provide the best care possible during your visit.

What to Bring

Please bring the following items with you on the day of your procedure:

  • A valid photo ID
  • Insurance card(s)
  • Any requested pre-op paperwork, physician orders, lab work, EKGs, or history & physical forms
  • A complete list of your medications, including dosage and frequency, or bring your prescription bottles with you

For your convenience, co-pays and deductibles may be paid prior to your procedure or at the time of service.

Transportation & Support Person

For your safety, you must have a responsible adult available to:

  • Drive you home after your procedure
  • Remain available during your time at the facility
  • Assist with any pharmacy stops or immediate post-procedure needs

Family members or friends are welcome to wait in our waiting area during your procedure.

What to Wear & What to Leave at Home

We recommend wearing loose, comfortable clothing and shoes on the day of your procedure.

You may wear glasses, but please do not wear contact lenses. Please avoid wearing makeup, and leave all valuables at home, including jewelry. If personal belongings are brought to the facility, we encourage you to have your responsible driver hold onto them during your visit.

Pregnancy Testing Policy

For the safety of both our patients and unborn babies, a pregnancy test will be required prior to surgery for all female patients under the age of 55 receiving anesthesia or sedation.

Certain medications, anesthesia, imaging, and surgical procedures may not be safe during pregnancy and could potentially cause harm to an unborn baby. Because some patients may not yet know they are pregnant, this testing is an important safety measure that helps our physicians and anesthesia providers provide the safest care possible.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding this policy, our team will be happy to discuss them with you privately and respectfully.

After Your Surgery

It is normal to experience some dizziness, drowsiness, or fatigue after receiving anesthesia or sedation. For your safety, please wait at least 24 hours after returning home before:

  • Driving or operating machinery/equipment
  • Signing important documents or making major decisions
  • Drinking alcoholic beverages
  • Taking medications not prescribed or approved by your physician

Please carefully follow all postoperative instructions provided by your surgeon regarding diet, activity, exercise, rest, wound care, and medications. A written summary of your discharge instructions will be provided to you prior to leaving the facility.

If you notice any unusual symptoms or abnormalities at your surgical site — including increased redness, swelling, drainage, bleeding, fever, or severe pain — please notify your physician immediately.

Length of Stay

Most patients can expect to be at the facility for approximately 2–3 hours on the day of their procedure, depending on the type of surgery and recovery needs.

Thank you for choosing Ridgewood Surgery Center. We truly appreciate the opportunity to care for you and look forward to providing you with a safe and compassionate surgical experience.
